On February 18th, Lunar Vacation and Tasha will perform at The Atlantis in honor of Lunar Vacation’s sophomore album, Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire. The album, released in September of 2024, is a dreamy amalgamation of shoegaze, bedroom pop, and indie rock, with the sound resembling their past work but with a deeper sense of maturity. While their first album, Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp, grapples with navigating young adulthood after the COVID-19 pandemic, as seen most prominently in the songs “Shrug,” “Making Lunch (Not Right Now)” and “The Waiting Game,” Everything Matters seems like an embrace of both the good and the bad. If slice of life was a band, Lunar Vacation is the perfect embodiment.

While they only have two full-length albums, the Georgia-based band formed in 2016, and their discography includes multiple stand-alone singles and EPs, including Swell and Artificial Flavors. The five-piece consists of Gep Repasky, Maggie Geeslin, Matteo DeLurgio, Connor Dowd, and Ben Wulkan, who all share a home together. Lunar Vacation is a labor of love project, as shown by the band’s close-knit dynamic and passion for creating music together.

Joined by Lunar Vacation will be Tasha, a Chicago-based artist who was featured on the Broadway musical, Illinoise, and has released three albums since her first EP in 2016. Her songwriting is deeply profound and heartfelt, as she sings about love, loss, and navigating hardships. Her most recent album, All This and So Much More, is undoubtedly her best work sonically and lyrically. She explores the death of a co-producer and friend, Eric Littmann, in “Eric Song” and a trip to Michigan in a song of the same name where she mourns her dog but embraces time with her friends to heal.

Overall, both Lunar Vacation and Tasha will be amazing performers, and their sets will surely highlight their incredible discographies. Doors for the show open at 6:30 p.m.
