If you’re looking to find an escape from studying for finals, or even a refuge from the biting winds of November, look no further than the warm sounds of Friko.
After forming in 2019, Friko has made a notable name for themselves in the Midwestern indie scene. Lead vocalist and guitarist Niko Kapetan and drummer Bailey Minzenberger combine to make a sound that seamlessly pushes the edges of chamber and indie rock.
Their latest project, 2022 EP Whenever Forever, is filled to the brim with powerful riffs, string-led ballads, and forlorn love songs. Mixing together countless genres, there’s something for everyone within their discography. Fear not if your favorite songs aren’t on the EP—they’ll be playing all their hits including their singles from earlier this year titled “Crashing Through” and “Crimson to Chrome”. As one of only five stops on the tour, DC’s show is sure to be special.
Hosted at DC9 Nightclub on Thursday, November 30th, the Chicago-based band will be joined by DC based pop duo GLOSSER as their opening act. If you want to secure a good spot, be there early since the venue is all standing room! Doors open at 7:30 and the concert begins at 8:00. Tickets are currently available for purchase on Eventbrite. Be sure to bundle up and catch Friko before they leave town!
