Cowboy Bebop is an iconic 90s space Western anime series heavily influenced by and draws motifs from music genres such as jazz, blues, rock, and more. Music is so heavily engrained into the series that each session (a term used for an episode in the series, which I always thought was a nod to “jazz sessions”) is titled after either a broad genre of music or specific songs.
Even after nearly three decades, arguably, not many show soundtracks have even come close to the levels of acute complementariness present throughout the series. The show and its music are like a definitive symbiotic relationship between two entities, where you can’t have one without the other.
On September 18th, the series is coming to life at the Lincoln Theatre with a live music performance of the legendary soundtrack by the Bebop Bounty Big Band. The jazz ensemble boasts the talents of 14 world-class musicians from renowned ensembles such as the Walt Disney Company, Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the Jazz Orchestra at Dr. Phillips Center.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the experience itself starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are still available on the Lincoln Theater website and Ticketmaster. If you’re a big fan of Cowboy Bebop or even just a big fan of jazz fusion, this is something you can not miss out on.
