In 1998, Sera Cahoone moved to Seattle to work at a snowboarding shop. Around the same time, emerging slowcore rock band Carissa’s Wierd relocated from Tucson, Arizona, to Seattle. And thus, a lifelong drummer, Cahoone found herself in the Seattle music scene very quickly, recording three albums and touring with the cult-classic band.

While Carissa’s Wierd disbanded in late 2003 (though they have since come together again, with Cahoone joining the band for recording), Cahoone continued her music career drumming for Band of Horses, which Carissa’s Wierd bandmates Mat Brooke and Ben Bridwell formed, getting featured on Band of Horses’ critically acclaimed debut album, Everything All The Time. Then, Cahoone began focusing on her solo career, releasing a self-titled album in 2006 and following it up with Only As The Day Is Long, through the Seattle-based record label Sub Pop Records, which she works with to this day.

Since then, she has released three more albums, including her most recent, I’ve Missed You All These Years, which dropped last month. The album, which was in the making for eight years, follows the loss of her best friend, father, and dog, while simultaneously celebrating the beauty of change, aging and life.

Cahoone’s voice is distinct, full of tenderness and clarity. In a live setting, she is sure to be a powerhouse. Joining her on Tuesday is Lizzie Weber, likely to highlight her most recent album Wraiths in the Wake.
