RIIZE is a K-pop boy group under SM Entertainment. The group consists of 6 members: Wonbin, Sungchan, Shotaro, Eunseok, Anton, and Sohee. The group’s name means “Rise & Realize,” which is what it’s short for. They debuted on September 4, 2023, with the track “Get A Guitar”; however, if we go further back, the group actually pre-released their single “Memories” on August 21, 2023. Even though their activities have ranged over the past two years, they’ve achieved a lot! In 2023, they won Rookie of the Year from the Circle Chart, Melon, and Seoul Music awards. Within the same year, they showed great promise as they took home the Next Leader (Fact Music Awards), Bonsang (Seoul Music Award), Favorite New Artist (MAMA Awards), Rising Award (Dong-A), and Next Worldwide Artist (Hanteo Music Awards). As of now, the group has released one mini album and just this past May, dropped their first album, Odyssey. Similar to most K-pop groups, RIIZE has a group concept that reflects their music.
For the case of RIIZE, they emulate a ’90s – 2000s energy with their concept. SM Entertainment aimed to make the music for the group to connect with fans, which is why their main genre is emotional pop, to resonate with BRIIZE (the fandom name). The meaning of the fandom name is to represent the “breeze” needed to lift RIIZE and stick by their side. Though the group hasn’t released many mini or full-length albums, their singles’ comeback has garnered more and more attention. Their title track, “Boom Boom Bass”, off of their first mini album, RIIZING, won five music show wins! Other tracks that have won music show awards are “Love 119” (Single) with two wins and “Fly Up” (1st album: Odyssey) with four wins. This upcoming U.S. tour will be the group’s first full solo tour. Previously, they held fan-cons (fan concerts: an event to interact with fans with little performance aspect), such as RIIZING Day, and fan meetings. To celebrate their comeback this past year, the group is prepared to showcase a bundle of talent in the United States!
