Wunderhorse are reaching maximum speed. The band out of Cornwall, England, has burst onto the alternative rock scene after releasing their debut album Cub in 2022. Released two years later, their sophomore album Midas continued to further their run as one of the most promising rock bands of this decade. Their sound is excitingly raw, with each track harbouring the potential to become an anthem whilst remaining grounded in thoughtful, hypnotic lyricism.

What makes the discography of Wunderhorse so enticing is the depth they carve out between their two records. Elements of punk are combed into the dreamy indie rock soundscape, with musicality that both whirls and thrashes behind vulnerable songwriting. Without knowing they had only been releasing music for the last 5 years, you could quite easily believe the band had been operating amongst the rise of the grunge era in the 90’s.

For fans of The Stone Roses, Interpol, and Fontaines D.C. (for which the band supported on tour in 2022), Wunderhorse is a must-see as they tour North America this summer. There is no better venue to host them for their stop in D.C. than 9:30 Club, which is renowned for its intimate environment and excellent sound system. Tickets are still available to catch the show on July 23, starting at 7 p.m. with support from Been Stellar.
