Pub Choir Eyes Up! at The Lincoln Theatre
Go To This Because We Asked So Nicely – A Concert Preview
By Maryann Weber
I do not normally watch America’s Got Talent. Simon is too predictable in his criticism. Singers, for example, should be on a different talent show where they can be compared with other, really good singers. The dance acts are rarely exceptional. The dangerous acts seem too dangerous for me. The stupid acts are waaay too stupid for me. But every once in a while, the show discovers a real talent, wherefore they are still making new seasons.
Astrid Jorgenson is a fresh talent. It is not her own singing talent that is on display, but her ability to get average people, people like you and me, to make music. We are the singers. We can sing in harmony. We can sound good. But not all by ourselves. We need help. And Astrid’s special talent is to bring us forth, and into the light.
It is not an average talent to help people perform music at a level above their natural spot. I have known only two such gifted musicians in my lifetime. (I’m 70.) Now I am hoping for three.
I am eager to participate.
One caution: This show is recommended for 18 and up.
