Joost Klein at The Anthem
Go To This Because We Asked So Nicely – A Concert Preview
By Allison Thoma
Dutch rapper Joost Klein is coming to The Anthem in Washington, D.C. on Friday, May 1! He recently played his first Coachella set, blasting tunes like “Axel F” by Crazy Frog. His unique energy can get crowds from around the world going. In 2024, Joost gained a lot of support through the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he was one of the most popular contenders. He represented his country, the Netherlands, with his song “Europapa” which spoke about bringing people in Europe together in several languages to emphasize unity.
Joost was originally set to be playing at the 9:30 Club but due to ticket demand was moved to The Anthem. This space will allow a great opportunity for attendees to jump around with friends and really enjoy the music. His songs utilize a lot of non-traditional sounds to create a chaotic energy. For example, his song “TRAFIK!” (with Käärijä) uses lots of car horns in its instrumental.
The Anthem is accessible from the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. It is a decent walk from the station heading south towards the Washington Channel. Venue access can be easily achieved on the orange line for people coming from George Mason!
